Offshore Fishing - Miami to The Bahamas

For a large Metropolitan area, Miami has a lot to offer offshore anglers. Home to several prestigious billfish tournaments, the Miami and South Florida area continue to support a world class billfish fishery.

At times, fishing for sailfish can be as productive as anywhere else in the world. The phenomenal offshore fishing is not limited to sailfish. Miami is also the feeding grounds of other popular offshore predators like: tuna, dolphin (mahi-mahi), kingfish, bonito and barracuda - just to name a few.

A day of offshore fishing normally begins by locating schools of bait - usually pilchards, threadfin hearing, or our favorite bait goggle eyes. We continue to catch bait with either a cast net, or by hook and line until baitwells are full (black).

Heading offshore we immediately beginning looking for our "eyes-in-the-sky" - frigate birds. These birds have extremely sharp vision and the altitude gives them a great vantage point. The birds are known to follow pelagic species hoping to get in on a free meal. Otherwise, we will look for weed lines or any sizeable debris that may be holding fish.
