Wreck Fishing - Miami and Bahamas

Here's a nice pair of Cubera Snappers taken on a Miami wreck.Wreck fishing in Miami and the Bahamas - I like to call it treasure fishing - is one of the more productive types of fishing. Ship wrecks, and other manmade bottom structures can be found the world over. We specifically target the wrecks in 80' to 300' feet of water - the range in the water column inhabited by our quarry.

Wrecks or artificial reefs provide sanctuary for small fish. The small fish attract the medium fish, and you know how the story goes. The wreck substitutes as a natural reef providing shelter and supporting the entire food chain.

Kingfish are attracted to all the baitfish that make the wreck their home. These bottom structures attract many desirable target species like: Bruiser Grouper, Sky Rocketing Kingfish and Tail-walking Sailfish - just to name a few. That's why wreck fishing often results in a mixed bag where ten or more different species are not uncommon.

Afircan Pompano are another favorite wreck fishing target. The wrecks are fished on the top or bottom, we usually do both. Bottom fishing usually produces, jack, snapper, grouper and sharks. The top fishing is usually sailfish, wahoo, kings and bonito. Live bait or dead bait can be used when fishing wrecks. And for those who like to jig fish, the wrecks off Miami and the Bahamas offer non stop pounding action.
