Grouper Trolling The Patches

Report Date: December 29, 2003

Guys, this past week has been hard to get out to the open water so we have been staying inside and fishing the patch reefs and the fishing has been out of control, the macks are in full force, the mutton are burning the light tackle gear up, but the true story is that the grouper are on the attack, I'm talking about 16 fish on the last trip we did with some in the range of 20 pounds and some not even bigger than the lures them selves.

So if your committed to getting out there and find the weather will not cooperate think about the patches there holding good fish already, and if you do get a chance to get out there is no shortage of fish out on the reef. The kings are getting on the heavier side already the sail fish bite has been on fire for the last three weeks and if you drop a bait to the bottom the groupers and mutton are being caught on every trip.
