Dolphin Mania Is Here!

Report Date: May 27, 2004

As the summer gets closer so do those pretty colors we all like to see under the glare of the water, bright neon blue with the touch of gold, and yes that means the mahi-mahi are here. They are out in full force in packs of 20 even 30 fish on a single school and they all have sizes from 10 to 30 lbs in each school. Our last trip brought us fish from 30 plus pound fish and most of the schoolies in the 10 pound range.

Is this great or what?

They are still a couple of miles off shore but the run is worth it, most of our fish came on live bait. I was running and site casting at the fish, and a few came on a small BOST lure "tuna candy" which has proven year after year to be a fish killer for us even catching marlin on.

YES! More Miami Dolphin

Our first group of fish came of a loggerhead which had a nice size group with her and the rest of the fish were caught on a weed line, which had formed about thirty miles off shore. We often run and look for birds working the weed lines but for the last couple of trips the birds have not been on the weed lines.

Awesome Miami Dolphin

The weeds have plenty of bait under them, so take your time and work the patches, trolling seems to be real productive rite now for the big fish. p.s. gongrats to Yellani for her catch on Sunday which gave us the first place in the SFVMT dolphin tourn. Capt Dave Parson 305 968-9603.
